As we notified our readers in December 2015, the FCC created two filing windows for AM licensees to file for an FM translator. The first window (available only to licensees or permittees of Class C or D AM stations) ran from January 29, 2016 to July 28, 2016. The second window (available to any class of AM station) opened on July 29, 2016 and closes this coming Monday, October 31.
HOWEVER, unlike the first window for FM translator modification applications which closed at 11:59 p.m. on the last day of that window, the second window will be closing at 5:59 p.m, Eastern Daylight Time (again, that’s this coming Monday, October 31).
Beware of this sharp deadline to avoid any bad surprises this Halloween!
